Colonel Alexi Vaselov arrives at the SGC and soon becomes ill after talking with Jackson. When General O’Neill tries to have him put in quarantine, Daniel starts shooting, wounding two guards. Carter and base doctor Dr. Brightman determine that what made Vaselov ill and made Jackson start shooting wasn’t a disease: it was Anubis, attempting to return to his empire to get a new body to possess. O’Neill places the SGC under lock down as SG-1 and the SGC attempt to force Anubis into some type of action. But the plan backfires and soon nobody can be trusted.

The 10th and final season of Stargate SG-1 is now available for free on Hulu! With the addition of Season Ten Hulu has finished a year long rollout for the show on the popular online TV website. All ten seasons an amazing 214 episodes of the show are available to watch for free. But it will only last till May 15, 2010.

Stargate SG-1 ran on Showtime from 1997 to 2002, then on SCI FI Channel (now Syfy) from 2002 to 2007. The series was followed by two direct-to-DVD movies.

Big Finish Launches Second Season in May

Big Finish Productions is launching its second season of six Stargate SG-1 andStargate Atlantis audio dramas (three episodes each) this May, and the first episode is the SG-1 story entitled “First Prime” by James Swallow, the same writer who brought “Shell Game” (SG-1) and “Zero Point” (SGA) last season.

The CD for “First Prime” is now available for pre-order at the publisher’s website(USD $14.53 + $0.74 shipping) and will most likely be offered for download as well (last year, downloads cost USD $8.99).

Christopher Judge reprises his role as Teal’c and Doctor Who veteran Noel Clarke makes his Stargate debut as the Jaffa Sebe’t. Set during Season Five, the story’s tagline reads, “Teal’c’s past as First Prime of Apophis comes back to haunt him when Colonel O’Neill and Daniel Jackson are taken captive by the system lord’s forces. As Teal’c struggles to free them, he finds himself confronted by an old friend and fellow Jaffa, Sebe’t. Can this warrior really be trusted? Or has Teal’c reopened an old wound that can never be healed?”

The audio drama runs approximately 70 minutes and features an original music soundtrack.

Sci Fi Channel sets Ark of Truth television debut

More than a year after its initial release on DVD, Stargate: The Ark of Truth is finally gearing up for its American cable broadcast premiere on the SCI FI Channel. The film will hit television screens on Friday, March 27 at 9 p.m. (8 Central), immediately following a rebroadcast of the final episode of Battlestar Galactica.

Serving as a conclusion to the Ori storyline that was halted by the cancellation of SG-1 as a series, The Ark of Truth finds the team searching for an artifact that can stop the Ori and their followers once and for all. Along the way, they’ll discover another threat by an old enemy plus a traitor in their midst, and an unexpected source of help.

Major Davis to return for Atlantis finale

Major Paul Davis of the Pentagon will be paying a visit to the Pegasus Galaxy in the series finale of Stargate Atlantis. Little is known about the episode “Enemy at the Gate,” which is the one hundredth episode of Atlantis, but the title implies alot. Speculation is that it will involve the nemesis that will be introduced in the Season Five two-parter, “First Contact” and “The Lost Tribe.”

Actor Colin Cunningham declined comment on involvement in the episode, but did say that he would be “delighted and proud to continue on as Major Davis in the exceptional franchise that is Stargate.”

Teryl Rothery in Big Finish’s “Savarna”

The third and final SG-1 episode in the first season of the new Big Finish Stargate series of audio dramas, “Savarna”, is currently available for download and its CD for purchase at the production’s website. This production is written by Sally Malcolm and directed by Sharon Gosling and features the voice of Teryl Rothery as Dr. Janet Fraiser. Toby Longworth provides the second voice in the audio drama, which is set during season six, after “Unnatural Selection”.

“Savarna” also features a musical score and runs for approximately 70 minutes.

The story synopsis: “Returning from a mercy mission, the Prometheus is attacked and Doctor Janet Fraiser is kidnapped. Finding herself amongst a crew of outlaws, the Doctor must treat a desperately ill patient and keep herself alive long enough to escape. But are things all that they seem?”

Fans will be able to download each audio adventure in the six-episode season, along with the CD artwork, for $8.99 (USD). This episode’s CD release is priced at $19.17 + $2.90 shipping (USD) at the website and includes an exclusive interview with Rothery. Those who buy the CD will be permitted to download the episode from the website at no extra charge.

The next and final episode in the first season of the series will feature David Nykl in the Stargate Atlantis story “Zero Point” and is due to be released next month. Big Finish is planning on releasing additional titles for a second season, including “Pathogen”, which also features Teryl Rothery and audio drama newcomer Christopher Judge.

Stargate Continuum Soundtrack Now Shipping

Joel Goldsmith’s soundtrack to Brad Wright’s Stargate: Continuum is now shipping. There was a pre-order time for getting signed copies of the CD, but that time is now past and all of the signed copies are gone. But still, the music remains, as well as the 24-page booklet that includes articles by Brad Wright, Robert C. Cooper, Martin Wood and Joel Goldsmith.

Goldsmith’s website, Free Clyde, is offering the CD at $19.95, plus S & H = $4.95 Domestic and $7.95 International (all prices USD). The CD is also being offered in a package with the soundtrack for Robert C. Cooper’s Stargate: The Ark of Truth at the cost of $37.95, plus S & H = $4.95 Domestic – $7.95 International.

Stargate SG-1 Audio Drama Shell Game Available for Download

The second SG-1 episode in the first season of the new Big Finish Stargate series of audio dramas is currently available for download at the production’s website. The CD for the drama, written by James Swallow and directed by Sharon Gosling, is also available for pre-order and will be released later this month.

“Shell Game” is narrated by Claudia Black and Michael Shanks and is set during Season Ten right after “The Pegasus Project”. The audio play, which also features a musical score, runs for approximately 70 minutes.

The story synopsis: “Vala Mal Doran finds herself in a particularly sticky situation when an old foe catches up with her. With only Daniel Jackson able to fight her corner, Vala may have to do something that’s really not her style—tell the truth.”

Continuum Made Character Suffer

The upcoming straight-to-DVD movie Stargate: Continuum, based on SCI FI Channel’s original series Stargate SG-1, gave producers a chance to wreak havoc on a main character to serve the exigencies of the film’s location shooting. (Major spoilers ahead!)

Writer and executive producer Brad Wright told SCI FI Wire that the script called for Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) to lose a leg–but not simply to serve the writer’s whim.

Rather, Jackson had to become disabled to meet the needs of the production, which shot several scenes in the Arctic when Shanks was unavailable.

“I had to finish the Arctic scenes first, before we started to shoot [Stargate: The] Ark of Truth,” Wright said in an interview in Vancouver, Canada, last week. “It was kind of weird. We shot all the Arctic scenes, and then took a long, long break, shot another movie and then did Continuum.”

The plot required Col. Cameron Mitchell (Ben Browder), Col. Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Shanks’ Jackson to be together on a wrecked ship in the Arctic. But because of a scheduling conflict, “Michael wasn’t available to do the Arctic shoot,” Wright said. As a result, Jackson isn’t in any of the early footage of Mitchell and Carter struggling to survive on the ice.

Continuum Expands SG-1

Brad Wright, writer and executive producer of Stargate: Continuum, told SCI FI Wire that making a Stargate feature film is very different from making series episodes. “We’ve done so many two-parters, you’d think it would be easy to just make it longer,” said Wright, who spoke to SCI FI Wire following a press screening of the direct-to-DVD film in Vancouver, B.C., on May 14.

But a feature, Wright explained, has a very different structure.

“It’s much more fun in some ways to do a movie, because the story can evolve the way it’s supposed to. It doesn’t have to owe anything to the episode before or the episode after. That was the fun part, to actually write a movie and not just a long episode.”

Wright took that opportunity to have some fun and ran with it. Stargate: Continuum features the return of beloved series actors such as Richard Dean Anderson and Don S. Davis, as well as fan-favorite villain Ba’al, played by Cliff Simon. Fans of Claudia Black’s Vala will see a whole new side of her character as well.

But perhaps the biggest difference is the chance to take a deeper look into the personalities of the main characters, made possible by the more luxurious running time. Even amid all the action, one of the film’s highlights is a sequence in which Mitchell (Ben Browder), Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Jackson (Michael Shanks) return to an Earth where the entire Stargate project never happened.

Stargate movies need O’Neill says Brad Wright

This summer fans will be treated to the second Stargate direct-to-DVD feature, Stargate: Continuum, a film which will not only rip away the boundaries of what the franchise has done, but will also return to core staples, such as Jack O’Neill.

Richard Dean Anderson will be getting some much-anticipated screen time in Continuum, and if executive producer Brad Wright has his way, it won’t be the last.

“For me, an SG-1 movie should include O’Neill. That’s how I feel about Stargate,” Wright told us. Already a third SG-1 movie is being considered, and if nothing else, Brad says Jack needs to be back.

A Sneak Peek Inside Stargate’s Ark of Truth

TV Guide has a new article written by Ileane Rudolph concerning the upcoming DVD release of Stargate: The Ark of Truth, letting viewers know that “we’re happy to share that it’s all about SG-1’s search for a fabled weapon that’s reportedly the only chance to stop the Ori from taking over Earth.”

In addition to covering the upcoming release of the movie on DVD (March 11 in North America), Rudolph also mentions the return of Richard Dean Anderson as Jack O’Neill in Brad Wright’s Stargate: Continuum. This stand-alone story is an “alternate time-line venture, where no Stargate program exists and the long-vanquished Goa-uld rule.”It also mentions that Cooper’s and Wright’s Stargate Universe, the third television series, has not yet be signed off on by the Sci Fi Channel. The premise of this new show, according to Rudolph, “will have a new setting yet allow for crossovers from the other series. Rudolph also hints at a possible summer-time premiere for Season Five of Stargate Atlantis:

‘Gift of the Gods’ preview clip available

A sample from the upcoming Big Finish Stargate audio drama series is now available at their Web site, and is three minutes long. "Gift of the Gods," the first audio drama in the series of Stargate releases, features the voice talents of Michael Shanks ("Daniel Jackson") and John Schwab. Shanks can be heard voicing not only Dr. Jackson but also General George Hammond and Colonel Jack O'Neill.

Producers Screen “Stargate: Continuum”

With less than three weeks left before the world premiere of the first direct-to-DVD movie, Robert C. Cooper’s Stargate: The Ark of Truth, producers took the afternoon yesterday to screen Brad Wright’s Stargate: Continuum at Sharpe Sound in Vancouver.

The official world premiere date for Continuum has not yet been announced, but Wright offered, “It will be released in July. It was going to be later, but MGM and Fox decided to take advantage of the energy that comes along with Comi-Con in terms of the release.” At last year’s Comic Con held in San Diego, there were several buses covered in Stargate advertisements, promoting the movies and the two series. According to Mary McNamara at Multichannel News, “MGM’s senior executive vice president of finance and corporate development Charlie Cohen said the studio decorated 10 buses and has already reserved the vehicles for next year.” Comic Con will be held in San Diego from July 24 to July 27 this year, so it is possible that Stargate: Continuum will be released at or around those days (possibly on one of the Tuesdays surrounding the event: July 22 or July 29).

Wright concluded, “There will always be Stargate films, that’s inevitable. We’re MGM’s number two franchise after James Bond, so it’s an important franchise and it’s growing still. I don’t see why we can’t do at least one movie a year.”

Stargate SG-1 Nominated for Saturn Award

Stargate SG-1 has been nominated for a Saturn Award once again this year. They have been nominated every year since 1998. Stargate SG-1 will compete against Dexter (Showtime), Battlestar Galactica (Sci Fi Channel), The Closer (TNT), Kyle XY (ABC Family), and Saving Grace (TNT) in the “Best Syndicated/Cable Series” category in the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films’ 34th Annual Saturn Awards, to be presented Tuesday, June 24, at Universal City, California. Stargate SG-1 won the Saturn Award in 2000, 2004, and 2005. I hope they win again this year.
