Yep, “The Nox” is really the episode where the show begins to take off.
I’m guessing you’ve seen a lot of other sci-fi shows, and compared to Trek for example, IMHO the plotholes in SG-1 are many and large in some places, especially in the beginning. I can admit that and still think no less of the show. But, I agree with Justin, the show gets a lot better as it goes on.
The most important thing in my mind that sets Stargate apart though, is apparent from the get-go: it’s humor and team dynamics. I think it benefits from having four main characters, instead of seven or eight like the Treks, no?
